About Us

We're here to empower you to create genuine change for the young people and communities you serve.

Everyday Human Rights is an independent, non-political human rights educational consultancy in Australia passionate about teaching leaders and advocates how to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable people every day through our unique, straightforward solutions based on real-world experience and results.

Our vision: a just, safe and inclusive Australia where human rights are universally understood, upheld and woven into everyday life.

Our mission: to deliver research, education, consultancy and practical training in human rights that empowers authorities, service providers, vulnerable people and their advocates by promoting best practices that support social cohesion and systemic change.

Our Approach

We are pragmatic idealists. We envision a society where young people are treated with dignity and respect, where their rights are protected, and where they have opportunities to thrive. We work toward this vision through evidence-based advocacy, community education, and collaborative projects that demonstrate what's possible when rights-based approaches are implemented.

Our Principles

  • The Power of Change.
We believe change is possible because we've seen it happen. Our work has demonstrated that when young people's rights are respected and their voices heard, outcomes improve for everyone. Small changes, consistently applied, can move the needle toward a more just system.

  • Root Causes Matter.
Youth crime doesn't exist in a vacuum. We recognisze that much of it stems from rights violations experienced early in life, inconsistent advocacy, and gaps in awareness. By addressing these root causes, we create pathways to prevention rather than merely reacting to problems. Starting the Momentum. Our experience proves that significant change can begin with grassroots awareness and empowerment. We don't wait for others to initiate reform—we build momentum through action, education, and community engagement from the ground up. Human Rights Benefit Everyone. When we uphold human rights principles, everyone wins. Far from being abstract concepts, rights provide a practical framework for decision-making that respects individuals while strengthening communities. Our trainees report that learning this approach transforms everything they do in their work, every day.

  • Participation and Co-Design.
We believe in the transformative power of participation. Our most effective solutions emerge when those most affected by the issues are directly involved in designing responses. Young people aren't just beneficiaries of our work—they're essential collaborators. And through this they can become better adjusted, empowered young adults.

  • Nuanced Conversations.
Justice issues resist simplistic solutions. We embrace nuance and complexity, recogniszing that sustainable change requires thoughtful consideration of diverse perspectives. Rights-Based Discussion. When conversations are grounded in human rights principles, they become more productive and solution-focusedsolutions focused. This framework provides common language and shared values that can bridge ideological divides.

  • Awareness Enables Progress.
Knowledge about human rights empowers individuals and communities to advocate effectively. Through education and awareness-building, we equip stakeholders at all levels to participate and collaborate in meaningful change.

  • Community Safety for All Through Rights.
We reject the false dichotomy between community safety and children's rights. Supporting human rights doesn't compromise security—it enhances it—by enabling young people to develop into responsible community members. Social cohesion is strengthened when human rights are amplified.

Our Goal

We are committed to transforming the preventable youth justice pipeline through human rights advocacy, education and collaborative action. We believe that meaningful change doesn't always require sweeping policy reforms - it starts with small, intentional steps that respect the dignity and rights of every young person.
